Basics in Dermatopathology, November 12-13 and 19-20, 2025
For more than 20 years we have been successfully organizing a basic dermatopathology course for dermatologists and pathologists in the German-speaking countries.
Nowadays digital pathology makes it possible to organize an affordable, interactive online course. By dividing the course into 4 half-days, colleagues around the world can be reached across time zones. After introductory lectures and demonstrations, more than 400 annotated slides and two manuscripts can be studied independently for 2 months on a teaching online platform (example http://dermpath.smartzoom.com/s5511/). Free course manuscripts (in both English and German) are available for download. For further Information and registration see attached flyer. For residents of a middle- to low-income country a reduced fee of only 80 Euro will be charged.

Dr. Pedram Gerami and I spent this weekend working on the upcoming Dermpedia Dermatopathology CME Course on Genetic-Pathological Correlations in Non-Spitz Tumors. The contents is awesome. This is going to be the Dermatopathology Event Of The Year you do not want to miss. Participants will learn the state of the art of incorporating NGS information into the diagnostic process of assessing challenging melanocytic lesions. This is the last call to register for the live virtual Course scheduled for April 23-25th. The preview of cases will start on April 8th for those who want a head start.

I am finally back in the office after the travel season in March. It is nice to get back to the routine schedule. I have learned during my travels that people want to travel again for CMEs and that there is shortage of pathologists with increased interest in hiring locums and consultations. I have been approached by companies looking to provide consultation services using digital platforms, i.e. Uber for dermatopathology.
A flashback from the past - https://www.darkdaily.com/2009/11/20/meet-the-virtual-dermatopathology-lab-doing-global-business-from-boston-120/ It took longer for telepathology to reach the mainstream that we thougth. I was and still am one of the pioneers in this space. I think that finally it is a matter of a few years before I will be signing out consults digitally at www.dermatopathologyconsultations.com. While it does not make any sense to scan the slides when the diagnosis can be made by putting it on the microscope, it is happening!
